The Rainbow Was Mistaken   2 comments

We had a beautiful rainbow day before yesterday.  Most every amateur photographer in Bakersfield must have gotten it — including me.

But if a rainbow is supposed to herald the end of a storm, this one was sadly mistaken.  We’ve gotten a lot of rain since then, and it’s not over yet.

Lori, Marion, and I attended the Judges’ Meeting for the Trail Trials last night.  It was very interesting, but it doesn’t appear that the judges are going to have an easy job.  They say that they will go on rain or shine, but we’re going to have some pretty muddy trails.

The trouble with a blog is remembering what you have said and what you haven’t.  I think I’ve mentioned the Trials, but I’m not sure what I’ve said.  Anyway, they are a judged event that tests the skills of a trail horse.  This is entirely different from a horse show trail class, with artificial obstacles in a ring.  The horses are actually out on the trail, and the obstacles are real.

I’m not supposed to say anything about the obstacle I’m judging (or any of the others) except that it promises to be interesting.  It’ll also be interesting to see how many riders show up in spite of the rain.

WordPress was down every time I tried to post yesterday, so I finally gave up and skipped a day.  Today it’s rained most of the day — that part of it I didn’t spend at the optometrist’s office, that is.  So there’s not much to report today, and almost no one here.

Time to go doze by the fire again . . .
