Brother Jim sent me some pictures from my nephew John’s First Profession as a Dominican brother.
It was a beautiful ceremony.
We were not a Catholic family — in fact, we weren’t a much of anything family — but I’ve always had great respect for the Church. I know John has put much thought and faith into his profession, and we all wish him joy.
In other news, it was a busy morning. Sarah was up early and rode her Aggie and my Bella. Then we wormed Bella and Kody — one dose for a horse is just about right to split between two ponies. For good measure, we rounded up Peaches and Xena and treated them for fleas. With luck, this will be the last time for this year. Fleas disappear pretty fast when the weather cools. Traditionally in Bakersfield, the weather changes right around fair time. The fair begins, I believe, on September 17 this year.
I think I may have mentioned it — we’re really ready for fall.
