Lotsa Lilies   Leave a comment

It’s still hot today, so the most action around here is in the flower pots.  The daylilies are at the peak of their bloom . . .

The unknown red lily is nice, but the star of the show is still the golden Spacecoast Tiny Perfection.  I was especially taken by the triplets in the foreground.

They’re ready for their closeup . . . note the fly.

And here’s a backlit view.  Note the ant.

The potted plants seem to just sit there, but they’re a hotbed of insect activity, most of it benign.  Squirrels, now, that’s another story!

The Preakness was the other high point of the day, and it was with some local pride that we watched California Chrome win the second jewel of the Triple Crown.  He’s certainly the handsomest Triple Crown candidate in years, all coppery gleam accented with white.  Everyone’s hoping he does well in the Belmont, that nemesis of so many good colts.  What a story it will make if he does!
