Puppy Shower   2 comments

Most of my posts are going to be about puppy Peaches for a couple of weeks, anyway.  There’s just no time for anything else, except an occasional flying trip to the store.

It pays off, though; after two days, we still have had exactly one “accident”.  That’s because of the swift trips outside every half hour, plus after meals and naps.  One of these days soon I’m going to keep track.

There was a lovely surprise at knitting last night — a puppy shower.  Peaches got lots of lovely toys and treats.  She loves every one of them — but, like any kid, she loves the wrapping even more.  I finally picked up the last little piece, but now I’m not at all sure which present was from whom.  I’ll have to teach her to write thank-you notes, but it may take a while.

I got another surprise when I got home.  Before I left, I popped Peaches into her crate, and suggested to Billy that he might want to make a round of the stable.  A long one.  But when I walked in, there was Peaches playing in the living room.  He not only let her out, but took her on his round with him.  She fell off every available surface in the pickup, and wound up wrapped around his neck.  And he’s the guy with the old-fashioned attitude, and hardly ever even pets the dogs.  Wow.

Another surprise — as our hostess Peggy escorted me out through her garage, she called me back to see what she found on her garage floor.  A scorpion.  Not a very big one — an inch and a half or so — but a genuine scorpion with a sting and everything.  It met an untimely end in a collision with Peggy’s shoe.  I know they’re around, but it’s really unusual to find one inside.  It’s been years since I found one in my bathroom, and it was only about an inch long.

Here’s a picture Marion took this morning.  I’m the one with the glasses.

  1. Awwwww, you two are so cute! Love the story about Billy taking Peaches on his round. Maybe he’ll decide that’s a good thing to do regularly. 🙂

  2. You guys look so, so cute. It is hard to tell who is happier.
