A Dog’s Life   Leave a comment

It seems to me that our dogs have about a perfect life, from a doggy point of view.  They’re well fed; they’re never penned up; they have squirrels to chase, farriers to beg tasty bits of horse hoof from, and a whole stable of boarders who can be counted on for either scraps of lunch or a nice petting session.

Not least, a doggy door providing free access to — I’m sure they believe — their very own house.  Complete with sunny spots to bask in on chilly mornings.

Rye is in her favorite spot on the sofa, while Xena has chosen to sack out on . . . my electric lap blanket.  Hmmm.

Oh, well, all is forgiven when I come in from shopping and they both pelt down the road in at top speed to greet me.  That’s something most dogs, if they have responsible owners, never get to do.

And this owner really enjoys watching them coming.
