October Sunset   1 comment

What a sunset we had last night!

It’s too bad it was too dark to catch the cowboys in the arena.  You can just barely see the tractor that’s pulling the roping dummy.  I haven’t mentioned that Andrew is back from the mountains.  He and his buddies had a roping practice last night.  Everyone had a good time, especially the dogs.

The star of the evening, though, was definitely the sunset.

The other interesting event yesterday — Lori B., friend and boarder, rode my Duffy.  She’s an excellent rider, and agreed to get ol’ Duffy back into action.  When you’re nearly seventy, you’re a little cautious about riding a horse that hasn’t had a person on his back in months.  Lori worked him in the round pen for a bit, then got on and went to the arena.  That went very well.  It’s always fun to watch someone who’s never ridden a gaited horse before.  She worked with him a little, and got him gaiting for a short distance.  She came back with a big grin on her face.

It’ll take a while to get him gaiting consistently, but she found out — it’s worth the effort!
