Longer Shadows   Leave a comment

It just didn’t seem as though it was time for school to start.  “It’s still summer,” I complained to Billy.  “The days are too long, and it’s hot!”

But almost overnight, things are different.  I get up at the same time — about 6:30 — but now I get to see the dawn.

When we walk, the shadows are a bit longer each morning.  (Do you see Xena’s stick?)

The leaves are backlit by the sun. (Xena’s just dropped her stick and is sneaking away.)

On the other hand, the thermometer is still hovering around a hundred by the afternoon.  It’s not fall yet — but we’re getting there!
