Future Frogs   Leave a comment

The hot weather is finally with us, and everyone is adjusting.  Most of the activity is around dawn and dusk.  The problem is that is when the blackflies and mosquitos are at their most active, too.  There’s going to be plenty of Deet in use this year.

The news a night or two ago announced “The first case of West Nile Virus in Kern County!” this year.  It turned out that what they meant was the first case in . . . a mosquito.  One.  Nothing like sensationalism in the press.

Mosquito abatement trucks are through almost every day, and there are plenty of mosquito fish around.  Plenty of tadpoles, too.

Every kid on the place will be running around with a paper cup, catching polliwogs.  That’s one of the nice things about this place; kids can do kid things here.

But we really could use the future frogs here, too.
